CUI International Office Welcomes Delegation from Firat University, Türkiye, to Strengthen Academic and Research Ties

ISLAMABAD, July 15, 2026 – The International Office (IO) at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) hosted a bilateral meeting today with a two-member academic delegation from Firat University, Elazig, Türkiye.

The visiting delegates, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Habip Sahin (Vocational School of Technical Sciences) and Res. Asst. Dr. Muhammed Sefa Çetin (Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering), are currently visiting CUI from July 12 to 18, 2026, under the bilateral PSF-TÜBITAK Joint Research Project focused on "Design and Development of Intelligent Battery Pack for Range Extension of Electric Scooter."

The delegation was escorted to the International Office by CUI’s Dr. Ali Arshad Uppal, Associate Professor from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Principal Investigator of the joint project.

The visitors were warmly received by Ms. Muniba Nasir, Head of the International Office, alongside Mr. Arif Awan, Senior Program Officer. The interactive session allowed both institutions to share comprehensive overviews of their respective universities, academic programs, and ongoing engagement with Turkish universities.

During the discussions, the participants highly appreciated the progress made on the active PSF-TÜBITAK research initiative. Building on the success of this joint scientific endeavor, both CUI and Firat University expressed a strong commitment to expanding their bilateral relationship. To formalize and sustain these ties, the possibility of signing a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a dedicated Student Exchange Agreement was discussed.

Looking towards future cooperation, signing these documents will lay the foundation to initiate joint project proposals and student/staff mobility under the European Union's Erasmus+ program.

The meeting concluded with a group photo and a shared commitment to fostering deeper academic and scientific cooperation between the universities.
