COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus, organized an expert lecture titled “Role of Engineering Mechanics in Ordnance and Ammunition” for BS Mechanical Engineering students on February 16, 2026, at the New Academic Block.
The session was delivered by Mr. Nadeem Akhter, General Manager of Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah. He highlighted the practical application of statics, dynamics, and engineering mechanics in the design, development, and safety assessment of defence systems and ammunition. Emphasizing precision, material integrity, and rigorous mechanical analysis, he explained their critical role in ensuring reliability and safety in ammunition manufacturing.
The interactive session enabled students to engage in meaningful discussion on topics such as failure analysis, material selection under extreme conditions, and emerging trends in defence engineering. The lecture also provided valuable career insights into opportunities within strategic national organizations and the broader defence sector.
At the conclusion, Dr. Arslan Ahmed, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, presented a commemorative shield to the guest speaker in appreciation of his valuable contribution.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering extends sincere thanks to the guest speaker, faculty, administration, and student volunteers for making the event a success. Such initiatives continue to strengthen the connection between academic learning and industrial practice.
